Who is NLG
NLG, Navigazione Libera del Golfo, is a Naples-based operator headquartered on Via Melisurgo, run by the Aponte family. Its first services date back to 1953 with the ships Italia and Linda; the company in its current form was founded in 1981 and has since renewed its fleet with monohull hydrofoils. Its core business remains the Bay of Naples, covering Capri, the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, alongside the Pontine Islands and, on the Adriatic side, the Tremiti Islands: the Tremiti Jet arrived in 2003 and, from 2007, the service expanded to the Gargano ports.
Fleet
The fleet is mostly fast hydrofoils, including Capri Jet, Napoli Jet, Sorrento Jet, Super Jet and Ponza Jet, alongside the catamaran M/N Picasso and conventional ferries. For the Tremiti Islands the operator uses the Tremiti Jet: a 1994 hydrofoil, 48 metres long, 450 passengers, 32 knots, with 20 seats and a toilet for passengers with reduced mobility. The year-round ship route runs on a conventional ferry; the vessel name and planned duration appear on each sailing.
Routes to the Tremiti Islands
From Termoli, NLG runs two services. The year-round ship route serves both islands: on most days it arrives at San Domino, on certain days of the week at San Nicola. The Tremiti Jet is the fast summer service, running from 1 June to 4 October 2026 to San Domino, with a crossing of about an hour. The third sailing on sale is Vieste - San Nicola, from 15 June to 15 September 2026 with a few extra dates in May: NLG sells it, but it's operated by the carrier Navi Tremiti. Always check the arrival island for your specific departure in the timetable rather than assuming it from the route name.
Check-in, vehicles and pets
If you booked online, present your e-ticket at the NLG ticket office at the departure port at least 20 minutes before departure to get your boarding pass; an e-ticket alone doesn't let you board. In Termoli, the ticket office is at the Molo di Nord Est, on Via del Porto. With a vehicle, the operator asks you to arrive at least half an hour early, but in 2026 non-residents' vehicles are restricted from landing on the Tremiti Islands from 1 May to 31 October: the guide to vehicles and parking explains the rule and where to leave your vehicle. One piece of hand luggage up to 50x30x15 cm and 5 kg travels free; extra items need their own ticket. Pets are allowed for a dedicated fare: dogs on a lead and muzzled, cats and other small animals in a carrier, with a veterinary health certificate and, for dogs, proof of rabies vaccination.
Tickets
Fares are split by adult, child aged 2 to under 12, and infant under 2, who travel free without a seat; passengers heading to the Tremiti Islands also pay the landing and port taxes. Tickets are personal and valid only for the sailing shown; cancelling by choice is possible up to 48 hours before departure for a fee, with no refund after that, while online changes cost more in the last 24 hours. If the operator cancels the sailing for weather or technical reasons, you get a full refund. You'll see the price for your date in the quote; the prices page explains what makes it change.
